Industrial Designer at Fishpond
From 2021 to 2023, I was the designer/developer for packs, luggage, submersibles, fly storage, and accessories at Fishpond. Here is a snapshot of the variety of products I designed, developed, and brought to market during my time as their industrial designer. Like most products that make it to market, they don’t operate in a vacuum. I want to give special thanks to the team I worked with at the time that helped launch products, set the product briefs, coordinate and took the photography, and even sold the products into the market.

Thunderhead Small Submersible Lumbar
This product was added to the Thunderhead submersible line to help bridge the gap between large-capacity submersibles and small waterproof pouches. The small submersible is ideal for day-trip fishing outings and is sized to accommodate small waist sizes. With this size range it made it ideal for kids who might enjoy taking a swim while out on the water.

Cimarron Wader Duffel
As part of the 2023 product line, I updated this large capacity duffel to be the ideal fishing partner to haul all you would need out on the water at a moment’s notice. It comes with a detachable, and washable, insulated wader mat, so you don’t have to stand in dirt while you change back after a day out on the water. An additional feature added was a coated open mesh divider to separate your boots from your waders in the base. The entire base pocket is protected by a coated fabric in the base of the main compartment to keep your gear dry, and your waders airing out.

Elkhorn Lumbar Pack
The Elkhorn Lumbar pack was designed as a simplified fly fishing pack with conducive hypalon attachment patches on the face and a large main body pocket for fly box organization. Not everyone needs a $200 fully waterproof fly fishing pack. Most people just need a rod, a set of alternate flies, and a couple of tools to have a lights-out day on the water.
This pack won the 2024 Consumer Choice Award at the Denver Fly Fishing Show for accessories between $50-$100.
